Pursuant to Article 46 of the Convention, execution of the Court’s judgments is supervised by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. This organisation, in particular, observes that the compensations awarded by the European Court to the applicants be duly paid to them in a timely manner (within three months after the judgment became final or from the date of delivery of the decision). The Committee of Ministers also controls the course of actions taken by the Member State in order to remedy the consequences of a violation found by the Court (for example, by bringing the domestic legislation in conformity with the Convention requirements).

It is up to the prospective applicants to decide whether to retain a lawyer for the preparation of the application to the Court.
